What started as a discussion amongst two Atlanta Artists about their journey in the Art world, ignited the need for a collaboration project. Each Artist displayed deep admiration for one another’s style, thought it would be a great opportunity to merge them together. Jamaal Barber bringing his experience as a woodcut, mix-media printmaker and Shanneil Clarke being a mixed-media figurative painter dove into forging concepts that would become two breathtaking pieces titled “Songs of the Soul” and “The Journey”.

Storytelling between both artists led to channeling elements from the past and finding ways to incorporate them into both projects. Whether it's the symbolic presence of the Swallowtail butterfly in “Songs of the Soul” believed to be the transforming souls of the our ancestors crossing over from the spiritual realm or the Nautilus Shell used in “The Journey” to depict one’s growth, the will to survive and also the spiritual nature of it casting a aura of protection over the person who hold it.
